We advise all students the admission team before making an application, to make sure that you are applying on the right course.
Questions to ask yourself before choosing a course:
- Do I really want to study this course, will I enjoy it?
- Do I meet the course requirements?
- How will this course help me to improve my academic skills?
- How will this course help me in my future goals?
- What will I do after completing this course?
And then when you’re ready you can apply!
Once you have decided which course you want to apply for, you need to submit the Application Form to the College with the following documents:
- Passport Copy
- Qualification Record

Once we have all the documents you will receive :
- Confirmation email
- Receipt of Application
If you do not receive an email one week after submitting your Application Form, please contact the College immediately.
After successfully submitting the application form and meeting the requirements you will receive a Conditional Offer Letter.
The letter confirms the applicants details, course applied for, duration and fee. Please confirm with admissions that these details are correct by email on hl@bcol.co.uk.
If you have received the Conditional Offer Letter and have returned all the relevant documents you are now ready to pay the College fees.
For government sponsored students you will be required to submit a Financial Guarantee Letter.
For self - financed students you need to return the following form to the College:

After we receive confirmation of payment you will receive the following documents from College:
- Unconditional Offer Letter
Congratulations you have now secured an Unconditional place to study at Birmingham College and are ready to process your visa application!

Please note:
- We strongly advise you to take out health insurance for when you are studying in the UK. (Sponsored students should check with their sponsor to learn how their sponsor will support them when they study in the UK).
- We do not provide accommodation. So it is important that you have arrangements for your accommodation and finances before your arrival in the UK. However on request we can provide you with information on local accommodation providers or homestay groups.
Once you have been granted a UK Visa, please email hl@bcol.co.uk with a copy of your visa & your arrival details.
Please note the first week will consist of Registration and Inductions, which will include;
- Registration (PLEASE bring your passport and VISA)
- Placement Test: consisting of Grammar, Writing and Speaking. This will help us to know your level of English.
- Inductions; General Induction, Academic Induction
- General Induction - covering health & safety, college policies & campus tour.
- Academic Induction - covering timetables, classes, teacher introductions, tutorials & paperwork.
For students coming to study on longer courses between 6 - 11 months during General Inductions we will cover (if required) registrations with;
- the Police
- the Doctors
- the Library of Birmingham,
- opening a Bank Account
- finding Accommodation and
- applying for Student Council Tax Exemption
Note not all students will need assistance with these due to different arrangements and circumstances.
It is also important that you are aware that if your language level is found to be that of an absolute beginner after the placement test, your course start may be deferred, as we do not run a class that is able to support the needs of absolute beginners.
